OUT CAME BLOOD AND WATER

By Chaudhry Rajinder Nijjhar, M.Sc.

Some of the relevant passages are quoted below:-

1. One of the soldiers thrust his lance into Jesus's side, and immediately blood and water flowed out. (John 19:34)

2. This happened so that the scripture passage might be fulfilled: "They will look upon him whom they have pierced." (John 19:36a, 37b)

3. Jesus, the Christ it is who came through water and blood, not in water only, but in water and blood. (1 John 5:6a)

Now, let us explain the significance of water and blood.  This is well demonstrated in the kosher killing of the animals in which the blood that carries the life in us is drained off so that only the meat or flesh is left behind for the people of flesh to be consumed.

Here are the significances of water and blood:-

WATER:-  It is essential for life of all the living things such as plants, birds and human beings.  Without water nothing would survive.

Now, the Rabbis and the Pandits are the moral teachers.  Moral laws apply to our physical bodies and not to our souls.  Moral laws are normally applied to the letters and they are not godly unless they are tempered with “mercy”, the chief quality of God.

In the Bible, moral laws are referred to as scriptures that could be written down in ink on paper and Jesus called scriptures as “old wine” or “old cloth” that could develop holes or corruptions when they are passed from generation to generation.  Gospel being received through revelations and not being written down in ink on paper but over the hearts of people is referred to as “New Wine” or “New Cloth” that is untouched by human hands.  In Judaism, Scriptures are referred to the written Torah and the Gospel to the “Oral Torah”.

The qualities of these wines Jesus stressed at the marriage party in John 2;1-11.  Now, Jesus being the spiritual Preacher, His emphasis was on the spiritual aspect of marriage as stated in the Parable of Ten Virgins.  Remember that the Last Supper, the Baptism of Jesus in Spirit, is the ceremony of entering into the Bridle Chamber.  This old wine is symbolic of the scriptures that are normally read by the once-born people whilst the New Wine that Jesus produced out of the clean water that was placed in well washed clean Jars of water so that the leaven of the old wine would not be present is best appreciated by the twice-born people of spirit, the open-minded un-prejudiced people and it is produced by the leaven of holy spirit, “common sense” and not of the “letters” of the law or scriptures.

Now, John, the Baptist was an ideal Rabbi of Moses, moral teacher or best described as Prophet Elijah, who over sees that the people obey the moral laws and do not flout them even though they may be, the kings.  Thus, John, the Baptist did even rebuke King Harrods for marrying the wife of King Philip that was not lawful and Jesus called Nicodemus a ruler.

Such an ideal Rabbi represents the Middle candle of the Menorah that stands for God or Grace whilst the other six candles represent the people who are judged by their works.  This is well stressed in the David’s Cross, which has two triangles oppositely laid.  Thus, out of the 12 disciples, the 7 were in the name of John, the Baptist, Who used water to baptise the men in the name of Abraham.  So, water that came out of the piercing was in honour of John, the Baptist or the embodiment of the moral laws that He came to fulfil and not to destroy – Matt. 5: 17; “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the Prophets; I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil”.  The rest of the 5 are related to the cleanliness of the heart that is concerned with Gospel in the name of Jesus.  These 5 represent the “blood” that also came out at the same time.

BLOOD:-  Life comes from blood and it could be compared with soul that emanates from God.  As a person would die without blood suffering from gangrene, so the real self of a person lies in blood and not in the flesh.  After the death of a person, soul leaves for his Father whilst the flesh becomes useless and buried or cremated away.

So, blood is related to the spiritual self of the person and as the blood of a male and female is the same, so in God both male and female are the same.  Thus, in Christianity both male and female could preach Gospel whilst only men could teach the moral laws of Moses.

Now spiritually speaking, there are five temptations of heart based upon the two spiritual states, ego and mind.  These five spiritual temptations or limitations that are KAAM (immorality or no conscience), KARODHH (anger), LOBHH (greed), MOH (worldly attachment) and HANKAAR (haughtiness of the spiritual knowledge) are well known to the Sikhs of Satguru (Christ) Nanak Dev Ji and in the Bible, they are mentioned but it is beyond the understanding of the common person without first understanding the nature of the four spiritual states.  In the Bible, they are emphasised in the Parable of the five husbands of the Samaritan woman at the well – John 4 and also in Luke 12.52 -  For from henceforth (in this Dark Age of Christ, the Light) there shall be five in one house (physical body) divided, three (They are of ego.  These are physical strength or pride of family seed, anger and haughtiness of the religious knowledge) against two (greed and worldly attachment), and two (clever people of spirit or the twice-born) against three (simpletons displaying ego or the once-born).  Among the spiritually wise persons led by “holy ghost”, those five are under their control and such a house (physical body) enjoys bliss or the Peace of mind.  Samaritan woman at the well had all the five spiritual limitations, the five husbands, under control and she had a Peace of mind.

So, these five spiritual limitations are to be controlled through christ in your heart before you become a wise person to preach Gospel.

As you use water to cleanse your physical body, so you need the Word of God, Gospel to cleanse the filth of your heart.

COMPATIBILITY OF WATER AND BLOOD:-  In general, you would notice that water and blood are miscible but this separate appearance of water and blood is a mystery that is best solved through understanding the nature of the moral laws meant for the natural or the once-born persons and the spiritual sense of the twice-born people of spirit.  This is well stressed by Jesus in Matt. 5; 38 – 41 “Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth (water): But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil; but whosoever shall smite thee on thy cheek, turn to him the other also (blood).  And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.  And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.  Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away”.

That is what applies to flesh or the once-born people; the opposite applies to the twice-born people of spirit.  Thus, the secular kings wear an expensive and very comfortable crown studded with precious stones whilst our Spiritual Royal King Jesus was honoured with a very uncomfortable Crown made of the thorny branches of the living bush.

Thus, Jesus came to fulfil the law in the name of John, the Baptist (water = 7) and to produce Apostles (Blood = 5) to preach Gospel of God to cleanse the filth of our hearts.  The twelve were all men, as they had to perform the duty of John, the Baptist until the Pentecost when they, the disciples, were paid their Wage of “Holy Spirit” and They attained the status of Twin Brethren of Jesus, the Apostles.  So, as Jesus never baptised any one in water but the disciples did, so no Apostle did baptise any one in water but the Bishops sitting in the seat of John, the Baptist did.  Remember that the Apostles being the Royal Priests of God are superior to the Priests of Moses, so the least of the disciples of Jesus is superior to the John, the Baptist, even though He paved the way for Jesus.  Thus, women could preach Gospel but they cannot teach the moral laws of Moses.

This subject being preached in spirit and not to be learnt from the Books, it is best understood through lectures in which you can ask questions.  In the name of Christ Jesus, we explain every thing from the very roots of the subject.  This was well stressed by the Samaritan woman at the well that when the Christ would come, he would explain to us every thing.

God bless you.
